Contractors Health & Safety Assessment Scheme
In 1997 a group of health and safety and procurement professionals from across Great Britain worked with the Association of London Government (ALG) to develop CHAS. In 2001 CHAS became a web-based system. Each month thousands of contractors and consultants (suppliers) apply for work with public and private sector organisations (buyers). To win work, they must meet the buyer’s health and safety standards. Assessing supplier’s health and safety competence is usually a lengthy and time-consuming process. Suppliers can sometimes meet one buyer’s Health and Safety standards but not another. Being CHAS approved reduces duplication as supplier’s compliance is accepted by all CHAS buyers.

Testimonials
In the circumstances of an existing contract to procure modular buildings falling through, AD Modular did a fantastic job of entering the project at a late stage in the programme, assisted in aiding the design and procured and erected two modular buildings ready for the school Autumn Term in September 2012. This was a superb effort given they were instructed at the beginning of August. The site operatives were extremely competent on site and communicative with members of the project team and the school . The end product was completed to an excellent standard with overall customer satisfaction very high.
“I confirm that AD Modular has recently acted as principle contractor for Stoke on Trent City Council for the relocation of 5 large portable buildings from one site within Stoke to another. The works included disconnection and dismantling and transporting the cabins. At the new site the requirement was for provision of foundations, drainage and perimeter pathways. Internally the cabins were repaired and refurbished and modified to the requirements of the new user.
The project was well managed both in terms of quality and health and safety and ran ahead of programme and to budget. The client end user was extremely pleased with the completed building.”
With reference to your recent works undertaken at Toton to establish our offices for the next Phase of the Nottingham Tram I would like to commend you on your performance overall but more specifically in relation to health, safety and the environment. During your works to install the building from the very beginning I have felt your attention to the required standards that we as a company set out has been of the highest quality. Your method statements and risk assessments were very good and the only amendments required were to ensure it fell in line with our procedures. In relation to the onsite works all operatives have understood the importance of the induction process and the site rules laid out therein. Wherever an issue has been raised your site management team has been very quick to react, rectify the situation and implement measures to ensure there are no further such occurrences no matter how minor. In summary, I feel that the works have been undertaken to the highest levels of health and safety with the environment considered at every turn. There is no doubt in my mind that I would highly recommend you to any other contractor in all aspects of works and I thank you for your efforts on our project.
“ad Modular supplied a single storey permanent modular accommodation building for a rail maintenance and train stabilising depot. Right from start, ad Modular have been very professional and proactive in providing a service which included full design submissions, fabrication and installation on site. They have in particular managed the interfaces between structures, M&E and telecoms requirements very well, ensuring our client’s requirements are fully met. Network Rail, our end user client, are very happy with the building.”
I would like to thank you and your team on behalf of the Trust for the significant part you played in the delivery of the Emergency Department expansion project which opened on time.
This was probably the biggest challenge we have ever asked of an Estate Development programme in such a short timescale in the middle of a functioning A&E. The scheme has been a great success, the quality of the build is excellent, and it is already making a huge difference to the staff in our A&E department and most importantly our patients.
‘’We are delighted with the finished building which suits our needs perfectly. Over the years we have had a number of modular buildings on the school grounds from a number of different companies and this building is by far the best. The service throughout has been excellent”
“Having the responsibility of a multi-million pound building project, the last thing I wanted was to be sorting out site accommodation. I contacted ad modular and they did the rest, leaving me to concentrate on my project”
